Oscar Taran, 88, lifelong Duluth resident, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2005 at Chris Jensen Health & Rehabilitation Center.

He was born June 17, 1916 to Harry and Sarah Taran.

Oscar served in the U.S. Navy. He was a committed member of Temple Israel for his entire life and strong supporter of the Duluth Jewish community. Oscar worked in sales at Gershgol Company and later Crystal Distributing and finished his career with Continental Service Industry.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 50+ years, Lee; children, Ross, Sue Ann; brothers, Frank, David, Jerome; and very special friend, Sylvia Seiler.

Oscar was survived by his children, Irving (Judith); dear companion, Lucille Taran; sister, Faye Hanna; grandchildren, Tony, Ryan, Matthew, Amy, Peter, Janelle, Jamie; great-grandchildren, Eavan, Edith, and Ingrid.

SERVICE:12 Noon Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005 at Temple Israel, 1602 E. 2nd St, Duluth with Rabbi Amy Bernstein officiating. Committal will immediately follow at Shaara Tzedek Cemetery. Services entrusted to First Memorial Funeral Chapel, 218-624-5050.
